Essential Additives: Essential Oils
Essential oils are nature's treasures and pack an amazing punch!  Here are just a few reasons why we at AumOui absolutely LOVE adding essential oils to our wonderful skin-loving potions...including artisan soaps! Aromatherapy:  Essential oils contribute natural scents to artisan soaps, providing aromatherapeutic benefits.  Different oils, like lavender for relaxation or peppermint for invigoration, can positively influence mood and emotions during use. Skin Benefits:  Many essential oils have inherent properties that benefit the skin. For instance, tea tree oil is known for its antibacterial properties, lavender for its calming effects, and eucalyptus for its refreshing feel.  These oils can contribute to specific skincare needs. Natural and Plant-Derived:  Essential oils are derived from plants, making them a more natural alternative to synthetic fragrances.  They contain compounds that not only add scent but also offer potential healing and wellness properties. Antibacterial and Antifungal Properties:  Some essential oils, such as tea tree oil, thyme, and lemongrass, possess natural antibacterial and antifungal properties.  When added to soaps, they can help cleanse and protect the skin. Customization:  Artisan soap makers often blend different essential oils to create unique scent combinations and provide varying benefits.  This allows for a wide range of choices catering to different preferences and needs. Mind-Body Connection:  Using essential oils in soaps can create a sensory experience that enhances the overall bathing or handwashing routine, promoting relaxation, stress relief, or an energizing effect. When using essential oils in handmade soap, it's essential to consider a few factors: Proper Dilution:  Essential oils should be properly diluted according to recommended guidelines to ensure they are safe for use on the skin and to avoid irritation. Individual Sensitivities:  Some individuals might be sensitive or allergic to certain essential oils, especially when pregnant.  It is crucial to perform a patch test before using a new product to avoid adverse reactions. Pets & Children:  Do your due diligence when selecting products for children and/or pets as not all essential oils -- or their concentrations -- are safe for your children or pets. Quality Matters:  @AumOui, we only use the highest-quality, pure essential oils to ensure they retain their beneficial properties and offer the desired scent and skin-loving benefits. We at AumOui take pride in crafting self-care products that contribute to the overall well-being of individuals through the thoughtful use of essential oils, making the experience of using soaps, etc. with them all the more holistic and enjoyable!

The Power of NEEM
AumOui loves working with Neem!  It's scent is reminiscent of mustard leaves, so the 'medicinal' impression will leave you satisfied that it is a powerful plant.  Look for AumOui soaps, masks, and lotions, on its own and in combination with other powerful botanicals. Neem, particularly neem oil derived from the seeds of the neem tree (Azadirachta indica), has been used for centuries in traditional medicine and skincare due to its various beneficial properties: Antibacterial and Antimicrobial:  Neem oil contains compounds like azadirachtin and nimbidin that have potent antibacterial and antimicrobial properties. It can help fight bacteria on the skin's surface, making it beneficial for acne-prone skin. Anti-Inflammatory:  Neem oil possesses anti-inflammatory properties that can help soothe irritated or inflamed skin. It may aid in reducing redness, swelling, and discomfort associated with certain skin conditions. Antioxidant Rich:  Rich in antioxidants like carotenoids, vitamin E, and other beneficial fatty acids, neem oil helps protect the skin from oxidative stress caused by free radicals, potentially slowing down the aging process. Moisturizing:  Neem oil is a rich source of fatty acids and vitamin E, providing intense moisturization to dry or rough skin, making it softer and more supple. Anti-Fungal Properties:  It can help combat fungal infections, making it useful in addressing issues like athlete's foot or nail fungus. Applications of Neem Oil: Spot Treatment for Acne:  Apply a small amount of diluted neem oil directly onto acne spots to harness its antibacterial properties. Mix a few drops of neem oil with a carrier oil like coconut or jojoba oil to avoid irritation. Skincare Masks:  Create a DIY face mask by mixing neem oil with other beneficial ingredients like honey, yogurt, or aloe vera. This can be applied to the face for around 10-15 minutes before rinsing off. Scalp and Hair Care:  Neem oil can be used in hair treatments to address dandruff or a dry, itchy scalp. Mix it with a carrier oil and massage it into the scalp before shampooing.   It is important to note: Patch Test: Always perform a patch test before using neem oil, especially if you have sensitive skin or allergies, to ensure you don't have any adverse reactions. Dilution: Neem oil can be potent, so it's best to dilute it with a carrier oil before applying it to the skin to avoid irritation.   While neem oil offers various benefits, individual responses to natural products can differ.  Consult a dermatologist if you have specific skin concerns or if you experience any unexpected reactions when using neem oil.
