Essential Additives: Essential Oils
Essential oils are nature's treasures and pack an amazing punch!  Here are just a few reasons why we at AumOui absolutely LOVE adding essential oils to our wonderful skin-loving potions...including artisan soaps! Aromatherapy:  Essential oils contribute natural scents to artisan soaps, providing aromatherapeutic benefits.  Different oils, like lavender for relaxation or peppermint for invigoration, can positively influence mood and emotions during use. Skin Benefits:  Many essential oils have inherent properties that benefit the skin. For instance, tea tree oil is known for its antibacterial properties, lavender for its calming effects, and eucalyptus for its refreshing feel.  These oils can contribute to specific skincare needs. Natural and Plant-Derived:  Essential oils are derived from plants, making them a more natural alternative to synthetic fragrances.  They contain compounds that not only add scent but also offer potential healing and wellness properties. Antibacterial and Antifungal Properties:  Some essential oils, such as tea tree oil, thyme, and lemongrass, possess natural antibacterial and antifungal properties.  When added to soaps, they can help cleanse and protect the skin. Customization:  Artisan soap makers often blend different essential oils to create unique scent combinations and provide varying benefits.  This allows for a wide range of choices catering to different preferences and needs. Mind-Body Connection:  Using essential oils in soaps can create a sensory experience that enhances the overall bathing or handwashing routine, promoting relaxation, stress relief, or an energizing effect. When using essential oils in handmade soap, it's essential to consider a few factors: Proper Dilution:  Essential oils should be properly diluted according to recommended guidelines to ensure they are safe for use on the skin and to avoid irritation. Individual Sensitivities:  Some individuals might be sensitive or allergic to certain essential oils, especially when pregnant.  It is crucial to perform a patch test before using a new product to avoid adverse reactions. Pets & Children:  Do your due diligence when selecting products for children and/or pets as not all essential oils -- or their concentrations -- are safe for your children or pets. Quality Matters:  @AumOui, we only use the highest-quality, pure essential oils to ensure they retain their beneficial properties and offer the desired scent and skin-loving benefits. We at AumOui take pride in crafting self-care products that contribute to the overall well-being of individuals through the thoughtful use of essential oils, making the experience of using soaps, etc. with them all the more holistic and enjoyable!

Candle Care
Candles, with their serene glow and enchanting ambiance, add warmth to any space.  Yet, amidst their beauty, ensuring candle safety is paramount.  Join us as we delve into the essential guidelines and tips to illuminate your surroundings responsibly and safeguard against potential hazards. Importance of Candle Safety Candle safety isn't merely a precaution -- it's a necessity.  Preventable accidents occur due to neglecting basic safety measures.  So, take the time in understanding the risks associated with candle usage to empower yourself and enjoy their charm. Essential Candle Safety Tips 1. Placement Matters: Always place candles on a stable, heat-resistant surface. Keep them away from flammable materials, drafts, and curious pets or children. 2. Trim Those Wicks: Trim candle wicks to ¼ inch before lighting to prevent excessive smoke and uneven burning. 3. Supervision is Key: Never leave burning candles unattended.  Extinguish them before leaving a room or going to bed. 4. Mindful Extinguishing: Use a snuffer or gently blow out candles to prevent hot wax splatter and to extinguish the flame completely (nb: a "snuffer" is proper candle extinguishing tool) 5. Container Caution: Exercise caution with container candles; ensure the container doesn't crack due to heat.  Never burn candles more than four (4) hours, without a duration of cooldown for at least two (2) hours in between. Candle Safety Practices for Different Types of Candles 1. Pillar Candles: Ensure these candles stand securely in non-flammable holders. Always burn them on a heat-resistant surface. 2. Votive and Tea Light Candles: Use these small candles in appropriate holders that snugly fit them. Keep them away from drafts and flammable surfaces. 3. Jar or Container Candles: Stop burning these candles after four (4) hours, and/or when only ½ inch of wax remains to prevent excessive heat damaging the container. Preventive Measures for Candle Accidents 1. Be Prepared: Have a fire extinguisher, candle snuffer, or a bowl of water nearby for emergencies. 2. Alternative Lighting Options: Consider flameless LED candles for situations where open flames aren't suitable, especially around children or pets. Educating Others on Candle Safety Spread awareness about candle safety among family and friends.  Encouraging responsible candle practices ensures a safer environment for all. Conclusion:  Embracing the Glow Safely As you bask in the soothing radiance of candles, remember that safety should always accompany their allure.  By adhering to these simple yet crucial safety guidelines, you can savour the tranquil glow of candles without worry. Illuminate your spaces responsibly, safeguarding against potential risks while embracing the serene ambiance that candles offer.
